Ruby Jewelry Home Page

Ruby Jewelry or Ruby Gemstone is classified into the Precious Gemstones category and is one of the most popular gemstones too. The colors vary from light to dark red.  Ruby has a Moh's hardness of 9 and is the hardest gemstone after diamond (moh's hardness 10).  Ruby and Sapphire are part of the corundum mineral species.  Corundums that are not suitable for jewelry making are used in cutting and polishing materials.

Rough ruby stones appear quite dull but when cut and polished, it provides beautiful glittering luster.  The popular ruby deposits are found in Burma, Thailand, Africa, Sri Lanka.
